UPROOT
Digging into where body standards come from, and how fat liberation uproots the norm. Essays, poetry, art, reporting and more from 12 fat creators.
WHY UPROOT?
Three ways fat liberation uproots the norm
UPROOT is our first theme. It digs into where body standards come from and pulls up the systemic injustice growing underneath them.

01
It rejects the idea that bodies need to be “fixed”
Your worth isn’t tied to shrinking yourself. Existing as you are is not a problem to solve.

02
It challenges who gets to be seen and valued
This isn’t about individual prejudice. It’s about systemic injustice in healthcare, media, employment and more.

03
It shifts the focus from weight to justice
We publish work that makes people feel seen and ready to fight.
