The people behind the pages.
WÆSTM is made by ReGrowth, the fat liberation learning platform founded by Kate and Catherine. They edit every issue together.
How it started
ReGrowth was first thought of in a noisy and over-priced apartment in South London. Waxing lyrical on the state of inequality towards the fat community, Kate expressed a desire to educate more people about fat oppression. Catherine responded with a simple, ‘Why can’t we?’ and the idea was born. After many, many late night conversations and brainstorming, ReGrowth was founded and we began in earnest.

She is the author and illustrator of Louder! A Guide to Finding Your Voice and Changing the World, which empowers teenagers to stand up for what they believe in. She works in the youth charity sector, specialising in anti-bullying, learning design and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Discovering fat liberation was transformative for me. After years growing and learning across different social justice spaces, it emerged as a deeply personal strand of activism that spoke to my own life, my own body, and the way I wanted to show up in the world. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with the wider community.

Kate introduced me to fat liberation early into our friendship and I quickly absorbed as much as information as possible. I am still very much on a learning journey, but am proud to be able to use my skills to highlight and support an oft-neglected community.
